Can you imagine the impact of being able to freely turn on metabolism for as many hours as you want?
We're here to teach you the fundamentals of physiology as they pertain to metabolic health and muscular activity.
Here at the Metabolic Innovations Laboratory directed by Dr. Marc Hamilton, Ph.D, we're passionate about pursuing endeavors to improve health through lifestyle, and are excited to share our discoveries with patients, peers, and the scientific community.

There is one muscle, in every animal which it has been studied, that has an exceptional genetic profile and molecular machinery for burning high rates of blood glucose after ingesting carbohydrates, or using high rates of fat when fasting in between meals. Therefore we asked whether humans could capitalize on the physiology of the soleus muscle, and how to best accomplish that.
Although the soleus muscle is only 1% of body weight, with the soleus push up (SPU) it can double whole body metabolic rate for hours, not just minutes like other types of intense activity. A high oxidative metabolism by the soleus is sustainable in large part because the soleus uses minimal glycogen. This improves blood glucose and lipid regulation.
